This will probably be Smith’s first studio launch since her 2018 album Lost and Found. As she mentioned in a press release, Be Proper Again is a snack to carry followers over, and never the primary course. “It’s referred to as be proper again as a result of it’s simply one thing I would like my followers to have proper now,” she wrote. “This isn’t an album and these songs wouldn’t have made it. If I wanted to make these songs, then somebody wants to listen to them too.”
That want to jot down was notably robust with “Gone”, a pensive tune that grapples with absence. “There’s one thing about having the ability to write about one factor and for it to imply so many various issues to others,” she mentioned. “I like that this tune, properly any of my songs actually, will probably be interpreted in several methods, relying on the experiences of the individuals listening. This one is simply me asking why individuals need to be taken from us.”
